Dinner in the hotel had come and gone, and Savannah was still too antsy to go to bed. Instead of going back to her room, she was browsing through the gift shop. She’d already found a cookbook of Cuban recipes she was going to take home to Holly, and a snow globe with a palm tree and a beach for Maria’s snow globe collection. But no matter how long she looked, she couldn’t find anything appropriate for Bud. She still felt guilty that she’d gone off and left him with the burden of bookkeeping as well as everything else he was doing, but she didn’t think a miniature palm tree dangling from a key chain was going to do it for him.

After a fruitless search, she decided to wait until Judd got there and get a guy’s point of view as to what Bud might like. She paid for her other purchases and went back to her room.

Today had been exhausting, and she was so focused on tomorrow, she couldn’t wait for this day to be over. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d gone to sleep before 10:00 p.m., but this just might be the night.

She got into her pajamas and crawled into bed, planning to watch a little TV. Propping some pillows up behind her, she pulled up the covers to her waist and turned it on. After flipping through a few channels, she found a show she liked and settled down to catch up with the story line. Somewhere between a gunfight and a commercial, she fell asleep, and then she dreamed.
